Maroons 34 v 4 Brighton (H)

Tries: Pace 2, Wilson 2, Hazeldine, Durant, Yeomans

Goals: Garbutt 2

The Mighty Maroons took on the Brighton Panthers at Uni Parks, finishing 34-4 victors. Slick work at the start lead to Sam Hazeldine scoring the first try, quickly followed by Rob Wilson going over with a classic RL line. Great work from Thom Foster at pivot put both Sam Pace and Guy Durant through for further first half scores. Less great work by Foster saw him miss the conversion from right in front of the sticks. The first half finished with the Maroons having scored 4 unanswered tries.

The second half began and Oxford’s dominance continued: Sam Pace and Rob Wison both scored their second tries of the game, before James Yeomans added one in the corner. Brighton grabbed a consolation try, and sloppiness from the Maroons granted them an extended period of defensive work to finish the game off. As it has done so many times over the years, the mighty Mazzas defensive line stood unbreached with a particular shift from the middles. All in all a good victory but work still to be done for the Maroons in perfecting attacking shape and working to a mark.

(No report on the Blues this week as the match was abandoned with us 32-12 ahead due to injury. Thankfully this was just precautionary)
